A fluoropolymer is a polymer that contains molecules of carbon and fluorine which is a high-performance plastic material used in either harsh chemical or high-temperature environments where a critical performance specification must be met.  PVDF is inert to many aggressive acids and bases up to 140°C and is resistant to abrasion.

The benefit of using PVDF tanks as opposed to steel tanks is the combination of the rapid and easy installation of the tank and cost factors involved. PVDF tanks are substantially lighter, easier to handle and cheaper to manufacture than steel tanks.
