Fire Sprinkler Water Tanks

Fire Sprinkler Water Tanks, otherwise known as firefighting water storage tanks, are designed to safely store water to feed fire sprinkler systems or for on-site firefighting water storage. Our fire water tanks are available with or without Fluid Category 5 backflow prevention.

All our non-potable water tanks are suitable to be used as fire sprinkler water tanks.  Our most popular sized tanks for use as fire sprinkler tanks are listed below.

BS EN 12845 and BS 9251

Specific requirements of BS EN 12845 and BS 9251 for fire fighting water storage should be closely followed too to ensure automatic fire sprinkler systems and fire protection systems are fit for purpose and meet the relevant requirements of industry standards and hazard classification

Automatic Fire Sprinkler Tanks

Automatic fire sprinkler, wet riser and mist system tanks are installed for property protection or life safety there and by restricting fire spread and protection of escape routes. Property protection systems are often installed at the request of the building occupier’s insurer to protect the business by ensuring the building and contents are protected against fire. The most common arrangement is a water storage tank with two fire pumps, each capable of meeting the needs of the sprinkler system.

Plastic Tanks For Fire Sprinkler Systems

Polyethene tanks, potable water tanks and cold water tanks have a distinct advantage over steel tanks as they will not rust and are very easy to maintain. Polyethene tanks are also very adaptable and can be fitted with numerous connection options to suit most installations. Our water supply tanks for automatic sprinkler systems come in a wide range of tank sizes depending on the volume of water that is required.

Additional Equipment for Fire Sprinkler Water Tanks

Fire fighting sprinkler tanks will often require some or all of the following depending on the specification requirements similar to drinking water tanks. These are priced upon application.

Standard fittings

  • Drain valve at a low level, standard size – 1.5″ up to 2,500L,  2” up to 30,000L

Optional non-standard fittings available POA / to specification

  • Taps and inlet valves.
  • Cat & mouse or electronic device to show the level of water in the tank.
  • BSRT fire fittings including couplings, adaptors, blank caps, flange adaptors and washers in 2 ½”, 4” and 5” variants.
  • Side access hatch for access to the tank for maintenance work
  • Raised AB airgap for CAT5 compliance side spill over weir and cowl.

Slimline & Insulated Fire Sprinkler Water Tanks

Our 500 litres and 1000 litres slimline water tanks and baffled water tanks are designed for space restrictive locations and to fit through doorways. These fire fighting water storage tanks are available as insulated tanks to reduce the effect of thermal heat gain and loss.

The 45,000 litre water tank has been designed for Section 15 of Approved Document B deals with Fire Mains and Hydrants and subsection 15.8. On some installations, insulation and heating may be required to keep the temperature of the water in the tank above 5°C during the winter, more details on insulated tank options are available here.

Support Base For Fire Sprinkler Tanks

We recommend a flat solid base that is flat in both directions for siting of sprinkler tanks. Larger tanks will require a concrete base.

Colour Options

Tanks in colour options other than black, such as blue, natural, and dark green, are considered as bespoke items and are non-refundable.  Similarly, non-standard outlets are also non-refundable.
