Chemical Dosing Tanks & Systems

Enduramaxx Chemical Dosing Tanks & Systems, we work with a number of chemical dosing installers designing and specifying customised chemical storage and dosing systems.  Storage capacity, standby configurations, materials of construction are tailored to the process to provide adequate storage and ensure that the system can be operated and maintained safely.

Chemical Day Tanks include storage of sodium hydroxide, sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, ferric sulphate, aluminium sulphate, ferric chloride, etc. By using coagulants and flocculants, slow settling solids can be removed in wastewater treatment plant storage applications.

Why use chemical pre-treatment?

Some wastewaters have very fine particles, particularly clays, with slow settling velocities which do not settle even in a clarification tank at normal flow rates. In these cases, chemical dosing is used to aggregate the particles, increasing the particle settling rate and cleaning the water via gravity separation techniques.

A typical process involves the sequential adding and mixing of chemicals to the wastewater.  First coagulants are added and mixed, followed by a flocculant. This would generally happen in separate chambers such as a 3 stage flocculation tank within the tank, the length to allow addition and mixing of different chemicals in sequence.

The water is then be cleaned in a clarification tank to remove the resulting settleable solids.

How do Coagulants work?

Fine particles in solution often have negative electrical surface charges. These prevent aggregation due to repulsive forces between them, hence the particles remain in solution. Coagulation is a chemical process that involves the neutralisation of these charges. A coagulant is typically a positively charged metal ion, the choice of which depends on the receiving water.

When added, the destabilised particles can start coming together, forming micro floc. Common coagulants are poly aluminium chloride (PAC), aluminium sulphate, ferric iron and ferrous iron.

How do Flocculants work?

To further increase the settling rate, a flocculant can be used. In most cases, a long string organic compound with charged negative sites is used which bind the micro floc together into rapidly settling aggregates known as flocs.

Why is flow proportional dosing important?

By controlling the dosing of chemicals in proportion to the flow rate of the water ensures excess chemicals are not added saving money. Overdosing of chemicals can affect the pH of the water and water output quality. This can cause problems to the environment and making the resulting water out of consent.

Chemicals are dosing used a chemical dosing pump which can mount on the raised section on top of the tanks from 50 litres to 1500 litres.

Chemical Dosing Skids

Chemical Dosing Bunds Skid are a splash-proof enclosure for the storage of dosing pumps and ancillary equipment.  Due to space restrictions in the swimming pool plant rooms, treatment chemicals is normally provided by the use of free-standing external spill bunds. These funds are fully customisable to provide storage of small volumes of treatment chemicals e.g. flocculant.

The Enduramaxx Dosing Bunds are supplied as part of a complete water treatment package for chemical tanks which can include mixers, bunded tanks and clarification treatment tanks.

Mix Tanks

Enduramaxx offers a range of Mix Tanks from 100 litres to 30 m3 on a sale basis.  The variable speed mixers ensure the rapid and controlled mixing of any treatment chemicals with the wastewater as well as ensuring that any suspended particles remain in suspension. Mixer tanks are available in specific gravities up to 2 SG.

Our Mix Tanks are typically operated in conjunction with either customer Dosing Skids, Containerised Dosing Systems, Clarifiers or DAF treatment systems. Mix Tanks can be provided either as a standalone unit or as part of a complete water treatment package.
